Where are the sessions taking place?

Unless stated your sessions will take place at the Vassal Centre in Fishponds Bristol.
Do the sessions take place during school hours?
Yes, we do have both, after school sessions and during school hours.
Will the school let my child attend therapy?
You will need to speak to your school. Generally our experience is that schools do allow children to attend therapy sessions even during school hours.
Do I need to stay on site during the therapy?
Yes we ask that you stay in our waiting room during your child’s session unless otherwise directed.
Can IÂ take siblings?
Where at all possible we ask that it is just you and the child having therapy. However if you have no other child care in place then you can bring additional siblings and we ask that they stay in the waiting room.
Can a parent make a referral or is it just professionals?
We welcome parent as well as professional referrals.
I have referred my child, what happens next?
You will receive a written acknowledgment of your referral within 2 weeks. Once a space is available we will contact you with a start date and time and then we will invite you to meet your child's therapist and see the therapy space. We will ask you some questions to help us get to know your child's needs better.
Will you tell me what my child does in their 1-1 therapy?
No your child has a right to confidentiality although they are welcome to tell you if they wish. However we will have reviews with the parent/guardian so that we can give some feedback and ascertain any shifts at home.
Will you tell anyone else what my child does in therapy ?
Your child has a right to confidentiality.
At BCTC we follow a Child Protection Policy. We are aware that we have a duty of care to follow up on all safeguarding concerns. We will liaise with other professionals should we feel this is of benefit for the child.
